Howdy,

Just bought a c1500 Cheyenne and the bench seat wont tilt forward no matter how gently or slowly I move it forward. Are there tricks here or is there a way to fix this? I am looking for some ideas.

Thanks,

Without a tilt in PA

I assume this must mean something, though I'm not sure what it has to do with it. Can you be more specific? Is it the '89 that's in your profile?

The seat in this 1989 c1500 has a bench seat that you can tilt the back forward inorder to access the jack and anything that you may have stored behind the seat. The seat has some type of mechanism that keeps the back from flopping forward at a sudden stop but is suppose to disengage when the back is slowly tilted forward. There are no visible levers to disengage the mechanism.

Ah, okay, that makes a little more sense and now I understand what you mean... not that it helps me to help you. '89 is just too far back for me to remember that stuff. I suspect it has a pendulum in the mechanism, somewhat like a seat belt retractor has, but that's just a guess.

At the back of the seat on the door side there is latch that should release the seat. This there in case you park with the front of the truck pointing toward the downward side of a hill. Or just try to pull on the seat back slowly. If you move it too fast it'll latch.

Hope that helps.
