This is what I sent to Jesse...

Here is what I want in the tune: 87-89 octane (tune it as high as you can with 87), no speed limiter, raise rev limiter, raise shift points, transmission shifts firmer, lots of horsepower . my truck is a 1999 Silverado with the 5.3L V8. I have a flowmaster 40 series with turn downs, cut out before the muffler, K&N drop in filter, 4.10 gears, 8.2 volt ignition wires, AC delco iridium spark plugs. is this all you need? let me know if you need any other information. I am assuming 87 octane will work all the time.

is there anything I am forgetting? he said not to worry about the torque management. Should I get it taken off? Also, will my engine throw a code and where can I get the CASE relearn done? should I get it done immediatly??

I'd leave some of the torque management just for peace of mind. Mine's never thrown a code and some guys who's vehicle has thrown one have driven with it like that and have never had a problem.

A tune is going to be the best money you've spent so far.

Lots of HP with 87 is not a very realistic expectation.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the CASE relearn for a brand new PCM.

If you mean crank relearn and If you don't get an SES light you don't need one.

If you do get the light, it will not effect performance, you can get the learn done anytime or never. It is just a diagnostic tool for determining which cyl. is misfiring if a misfire condition is detected.

You have cutouts before the muffler? Like to make noise huh? I assume they are after the rear O2 sensors. If not you would get a code, when they are open, and would need to tune the rear sensors for this.

the whole lots of HP thing is kinda a joke. sorry. I am a college student and this is one of my christmas presents. I don't want to put 89 or 93 in my truck everytime I fill up. I know its not that much more but when I graduate i will get it changed. Just want the tune to have a little more horsepower, better MPG, and really to help my transmission. I hate how it shifts.

The whole cut out thing was for around town only. On the interstate I put the cap back on and it is a pretty quiet truck! The cut out is right before the muffler so it is extremely easy to switch on and off. Didn't throw any codes and it runs good with it on or off. The backpressure really isn't affected because of the placement and the cats are still on.

didn't know about the whole CASE relearn crank thing, that's why I was asking you guys. Thanks

Talk to Jesse about the rear cutouts, If before the cats, Jesse can disable the rear O2 sensors. The rear O2 sensors are only for monitoring the performance of the Cats. and do not have anything to do with the front / primary O2 sensors.

By turning off the rear sensors you will not have any "check engine" lights come on in relation to the cats performance or rear O2 sensors failure.

This is for "off road" use (just to keep everyone in a "legal" sense.

I have an 07 5.3 and got a tune from jesse .....320 with the new computer. Let me tell you that 5.3 has really woke up!!! As for the torque management thing....it has gotten way out of control in the forums.....dont worry about it unless you plan to drag race the vehicle. Most of the torque mgmt is between shifts anyways...talk to jesse....trust me. all you need to tell him is the vin, what mods you made and he'll do the rest...all i had to do is the crank relearn at the dealer with the tech 2 and theft system reset...500 miles on the tune and it really made a big " in the seat of your pants" difference. Any questions feel free to pm me..good luck and safe driving
