UM7 to UB1 am/fm to am/fm/cd/cassette

I have a 2005 Silverado which came with the am/fm (only) radio (UM7). I bought an am/fm/cd/cassette radio (UB1). Will this just be a straight swap one for one? I know I will need to have the dealer "unlock" the radio once it is in but other than that, will it work like it came with it?

Don't know if a UB1 will work or not, because it was not an option on the Work Truck. On friday I put in a UB0 in my WT (also came with a UM7). It came out of an '05 Trailblazer. It programmed up just fine, and sounds better in the bargain. The UB0 and UM7 come with the same speaker package. I'm contemplating changing my speakers, but like you have received no answers to my post. From everything I've read, you want the radio that came out of an '05 or '06, one from an '03 or '04 may not program. I waited six weeks, till I could get a late model on "eBay".

Well, 20 minutes at the dealer and $49.95 later, the new UB1 is working perfect! Apparently there is a menu with around 10 items that they go through when they plug in the tech 2 programmer. They can choose wether or not you have Bose, XM, etc.
