First truck

Just got a 1999 GMC Sierra, regular cab, long box, 4x4, 4.3 V6.

Darn Rights Sierra, i JUST today bought my first vehicle, a 1984 GMC Sierra, um any info on the truck would help me, i know it has a straight 6 in it, but i dont know how many litre it is, or how much oil to put in it, i need the book for it i think, but if anyone can help please do. i also would like to know how i can squeeze a little more horsepower outta it cause its a litte slow accerlating, and what i can do to the rear end to help gain traction, besides changing tires.

Two words for both of our new members... Chilton's Manual. (Actually Hayne's Manuals are very good too.) Please, don't take this as me being a jerk. I quite honestly can not recomend a better source of information for a owner new to their vehicle.

 

This forum and others like it are great sources of information. But, for the basics necessary to work on your own vehicle their is no better resource than the two sources I mentioned above.

Ok no worries, your not comming off as ajerk or anything, but i live in B.C. Canada and ive never herd of Chiltons Manuals, i have herd of Haynes though,thanks for the input.
