Extended Warrantys

Hey all,

I just bought a 2001 Blazer on monday and the dealer added on an extended warranty with out me knowing. I called up and they said if i wanted it cancelled to send them a letter and they would refund the cost. The warranty is through EasyCare, it covers all repairs bumper to bumper, is for 12mos/12,000 miles and cost $1900. I was wondering if anyone had any insight on if i should keep it or not. I mean i know s**t happenes but what are the chances that s**t will cost over $1900?

I would think you could get a 3 year addon warranty for that kind of money. Check some of the online places that do warranty and get some quotes if you want one. I definately wouldnt pay 1900 for 1 year.

I would tell them to cancel and then check around elsewhere.

 

I just bought a 2001 Jimmy and got the 3 year bumper to bumper for less than a thousand from the Chevy dealer.

Plus nothing cost $1900 except the engine.

I think you got ripped on that warranty. good move on cancelling it.

 

However, I would suggest getting another one. I have extended warranties on both of my vehicles and they're invaluable.

 

True, not many things will cost 1900, but consider this, my warranty was about $1900, but it covers me bumper to bumper 5 years/100k miles. you name it. it's fixed. it's accepted at any dealer, and jsut about any repair shop. I've used it quite a few times. not necessariily for the "Oh snap" type stuff, but for the simple thing that I would have ignored or put up with. for example, the climate control on my buick faded a bit. no big deal, but it was troublesome. took it in, poof. new climate control. plus, they did a system check and filled the freon to boot. my cost, ZERO. one of my speakers developed a rattle from the mount being loose. I bought it in again. poof a new set of speakers all around. my cost, ZERO.

 

personally I love them, and I actually take better care of my vehicles becuase of it.
