2001 Silverado 2500 HD Brake Pads

I have a Silverado 2500 HD, 8.1 with Allison. Are the brake pads ceramic? I was told by a brake shop they were and had a life span of more than 100K miles.

They are ceramic but I've never heard anything about 100K miles. I replaced mine at about 40K but that was for rotor issues, not pads. It made sense to do both at the same time.

I have not heard the 100K number, but I have 89K on mine and the pads are all in really good shape. Rotors too. But then again, I don't tow a lot of weight consitently. My "brake specialist" says that the pads "are made for stopping heavy loads so if you don't do a lot of heavy load stopping, they will last almost forever."
