Do it yourself Boxliner kits

I did the herculiner kit last summer. Just did the spring clean today and it looks like it held up to the winter just fine. Quads, skidoos, icehuts, 150hp outboard guts, not a nick in it that i can see, and i think it was about 1/3 the $ of what line x wanted.

I helped a buddy of mine do a Herculiner roll on in his old pickup a couple years ago. He got a couple gallons ($200) and put it on fairly thick, but after awhile seemed to fade/discolor, plus didn't seem to be very strong as he has a bunch of chip/tears in it when putting things in it.

If you are a good DIY’er, I would go with the two part spray on type stuff out there. A couple suggestions would be Speedliner, www.speedliner.com or Rattleguard, www.rattleguard.com .

The Speedliner product is the best and is only $40 per gallon (much better than the Herculiner!). They usually only sell product to their dealers, but call them up and see if you can convince them to sell you a case (4 gallons). Tell them there’s not a dealer near you, but you’ve heard good things about their bed liner. You’ll also need some of their primer, but it’s not that much more. This stuff gets sprayed on with a hopper/texture gun, like you use to spray texture on drywall in a house. You can get one at Harbor Freight for $20. You’ll also need a drill mixer ($5 at Lowes or Home Depot) and some Methyl Ethyl Keytone, or MEK to wipe down the surface right before you spray the primer. You’ll have to tape your pickup off and sand the surface of the paint, and then prime it. Mix up the Speedliner, spray it on with the hopper gun, take the tape off and you’re done! You’ll have a $400-500 spray in bedliner for only $200, with 4 gallons of material! With the Herculiner stuff, it would have cost you $400, just for the material.

The Rattleguard stuff works about the same way, except you may not have to prime the surface.

Just a couple suggestions. Just don’t use the Duplicolor product! Terrible stuff.

I've had my herculiner for 2 years now. It will fade from the sun but I haven't had any issues with it chipping or scraping off. I do use the bed for hauling my atv, ramps, and any other thing that I don;t want in the cab.
