Does anyone use a bed cap?

I'll be taking a trip to MI to pick up some seats later this week so I borrowed a cap to keep them protected while they are in the bed. I'm usually not a cap person but I think this looks pretty good on the truck.

I like a smooth fiberglass lid that runs the same height as the trucks roof line, One window on each side, smoked. I don't particularly like the type of cap that you borrowed, but they sure are nice for keeping gear dry, and they don't look bad. I just like a cleaner line with less glass.

I had a Snug Top tonneau cover on my '99 Silverado years ago and put a carpet inside the bed. That was nice and had smooth lines but limited the use of the bed. The cover in the pic makes the truck look bigger but isn't to sporty. I plan on returning it to the owner later this week :)

I have a cab high cap on my truck.

I also have a BedRug inside my bed, so I have a place to sleep when I go trout fishing.

Forget the cap, what about your mirrors? Did you paint them to match or did your truck come that way? I really wish my mirrors were the same color as my truck. I have considered painting them but my local body shop guy (someone I trust) says don't do it the paint will flake off.

Thoughts?

The mirrors, grill shell and fender flares were all painted to match. The mirrors still look pretty good. I went with the clear protectant on them and the front of the hood.

I have the Chevy not the GMC. I had my grill piece and bumper cap painted too. However they are not holing up very well. The body shop guy said he used a prepaint coating that is suppose to make the paint adhear to the plastic surface better also. However it just isn't holding up well. I really like the look better with everything painted. My body guy basically refused to paint the plastic wheel flares because he said they wouldn't hold paint.

Thanks,

I ordered a "work truck" grill and had that sanded smooth. The flares are the smooth version that GM offers on vehicles when they are painted to match. So far so good! :seeya:
