Brake Controller

98GMCClubCab

Question

I just put a brake controller for towing in my 98 K1500. Looked up to connect the brake switch wire and not only can I not get to it, I don't know wich wire to connect to. There is a lot of wires. I'm used to just 2.

Does anyone know the best way for this or should I just run a wire back to the tail lights?

Thanks

Your right. Thanks. I'm used to Fords with the 2 wire brake switch. This works out great, cause I hate cutting factory wires!

Can you tell me what kind of connector you used to connect the brake wire to the pin in the block? Thanks

I just used a spade terminal soldered on the end of the wire. It'll plug right in. You MAY be able to find a factory plug, but the spade terminal is easy and I have a bunch laying around. Good luck.

On my 98 K3500 there's an electrical panel under the dash to the left of the brake pedal. Bottom left of that panel there's a connection port for the TBC: power/ground/brake light. I think the brake light/switch wire was light brown, but not sure. Easy to test with a test light. Works great for me, your truck is probably the same.

Thanks for the info. That is what I had in mind also, just was not sure it would work since the pin is so small.
