swapping a 6.2 for a 5.3 in a 2004 Yukon

How hard is it to get a new 6.2L and swap it for the existing 5.3L in a 2004 Yukon. What all is involved...transmission, computer, wiring harness? Any additional other considerations?

I'm not too familiar with the 6.2 since it is a new engine but if it's based of the same block as the 5.3, then it should fit. You will hard time finding someone that's done this swap already, so you may need to contact wherever you were going to get the engine from and see if they have all the specs on it. I do know the new Yukon uses a 6 speed tranny, so you also need to make sure the bolt patterns are the same. Sorry I can't be more help. I tried googling the 6.2, but I couldn't find any info on it. Keep us informed.

it'd be a lot easier to find an lq9 6.0l. Also, the 6.2l is used exclusively in the 07 escalade (as I'm sure you know) which is built on the gmt 900 platform. From what I've heard, they are using hydraulic engine mounts on this platform. This, despite the fact that the gmt 900 is a completely different animal than a gmt 800 chassis makes the lq9 a much easier option (and cheaper) option. Hell you can always put a radix on it if the power is insufficient.

all of the new -900 powertrains use exclusively high speed GMLAN for communication. I hope you have lots of time set aside for getting the wiring/computer to work in your -800 :driving:
