305 to 350 vortec swap (97 1500 van)

Recently purchased a 97 van with a blown vortec 305 for a few hundred bucks and was weighing my options on what do throw in it. van has 254k on it so a rebuild would entail alot to be redone, so my next thought was reman'd engine...so my questions to you guys

1) who would you deal with (ie jasper, goodwrench, no namers with good warranties etc)??

2) I also figured I'd throw a 350 in it since they are a bit easier to find and why the hell not...but I hear everything from ecm needs reprogramed, new injectors, to neither... are the injectors and distro block for them not the same part? I just wish someone had concrete info on what needs to be done for a 305 to 350 vortec swap.

3) knock sensor need swapped??

4) anything I am mssing here?

any other help would be appreciated

Rob there are often different injector flow rates used on different displacements of the same engine. To be sure you could swap the injectors for some salvage or reman 5.7 units. They'll fit the same in the throttle body but with used ones buy a gasket and seal kit. The good thing about TBI injectors is the're so big that they hardly ever clog and will self clean with use.

On the PCM and tuning all you would need to do to be sure is to swap the EPROM chip for a like year 5.7 unit. These are also availiable from the parts house. If dealing with a salvage part it will be the whole PCM.

The knock sensor will work.

It's hard to beat Goodrich and Jasper for quality assurance. With a smaller local vendor get plenty of references. Read the warranty carefully.

This is a CPI system not the TBI. So swapping chips does not apply. I would check with a parts store and see if the injectors are different. The intakes are the same, so the injectors may be too. The PCM may need to be swapped or reprogrammed.
