HELP!!!!!!!!

Aright...Well, today my friend and i decided to wire two additonal backuplights onto my truck(1997 Chevrolet 1500 pickup). We ran the extra back up lights parallell with the existings back up lights. When my friend pulled the truck out of the garage, the lights that illuminate the gauges in my dashboard went out. We checked the fuse and it seemed to be in order. Any suggestions would be great.

We figured out the problem...There was a short because a wire had rubbed against the truck so much the insulation wore away
