Please explain the idea of cranking the torsion bars. Will the truck need reailignment afterwards and how about the rear axle? I dont know anything about this and need pics of the job in process, if anyone has any. Good directions would be appreciated also. What is the need/want for this mod. I have 285's on the truck now with no rubbing. I would like for the truck to have a taller stance, would this accomplish this. All help would appreciated. I live in North Georgia and like to go off Road once in a while. So a taller stance would help. Thanks, Kenny

There are some really good threads about this at here on this site.

I just did mine, peice of cake, just scroll down the threads looking for Ford keys.

You should find all the info you need, if not, I can runn you through the process.

Basically what you need is something to measure with and an 18mm socket.  Measure the front height, I used both wheel well and the frame.  There is a good chance they will be different cause the new gm's seem to have a side-to-side lean.  Then just crawl underneath and make a couple of full turns on the torsion bolts.  Then measure again and see how far that got you.  Every truck is different so I can't tell you the exact number of turns you will need to get a desired height.  1" is usually the most you would want to go, anything over that and the cv angles will start to get too extreme, which may lead to problems.  So basically, measure, crank, measure, and repeat until you have both sides even and an inch higher.

It is recommended that you get a front end alignment to prevent abnormal tire wear.
