Rear brakes locking?

Lately, it feels like the rear brakes on our 99 GMC Safari are locking. It does this randomly, about half the time. It seems to do it just before you come to a stop, at 2-3mph.

I took off all of the wheels, and visually inspected the brakes. They all look good, and have plenty of life left in them. I also visually checked the driveshaft & u-joints, and didn't see anything there.

Recently, the check engine light came on, but the brakes started doing this before that came on, so I'm not sure if they're related.

Does anyone have any suggestions of things to look for?

Thanks!

Double check the brakes, lookings especially hard for any grease/oil on the pads. It might be possible the axle seals are dripping, and the gear lube is getting on the pads/drums.

I had the same problem with my yukon. On the Yukon there is a anti-lock brake sensor that feeds to both rear tires. If these go out it disables your antilock and can cause your rearend to lock up over dirt of slick surfaces.
