2003 Silverado Wheels and Tires

I am looking into replacing my tires on my 2003 Silverado Regular Cab 2WD. I currently have 235/75 R16. I was also looking into replacing my chrome wheels with some aluminum wheels. On 16" aluminum wheels I believe Chevrolet put 255/70 R16. I like the look of the 17" Chevrolet wheels better. I was looking at them and they came with either 245/70 R17 tires or 265/70 R17 tires. If I put the 17" wheels on my truck would it cause any problems with the speedometer? If it wouldn't, what size tires should I put on it with both the 16" wheels and the 17" wheels.

You are changing the overall tire height, so yes you your speedo would be off (slightly). Google tire wheel calculator to find out exactly.

You can have the dealer reprogram the PCM for the tire size correction. It will make your speedo and odometer accurate again.

I put the stock 17" rims with 265/70 tires on my truck. The speedometer change is very minimal and the shift points are actually better. You should have no wories in doing this.
