Tilting rear end - Yukon

Dear Expert,

 

On my 2003 Yukon 4WD, 60,000miles, VIN: 1GKEK13Z83R The driver's-side rear end is about 1.5 inches lower than the other side. This can be measured from the rear bumper. From a distance, while looking directly at the rear bumper, you can see that it is noticeably lower. The distance between the top of the wheel wells and the ground is also visibly uneven.

 

What's wrong? Do I need to get it fixed? Any ideas on the cost?

Actually I believe you are to measure from the wheel well arch. Sounds like a spring has taken a set and may need to be replaced. If it has torsion bars maybe you could crank up the one side...

I would lower (unscrew) the right front torsion bar. Do it a little at a time. You might want to drive it between adjustments to let the suspension settle. You will need to have an alignment done afterwords.
