Suburban Windshield Wipers

Recommended Posts

I changed my wipers on my 04 Sliverado with no problem but I'm struggling to get the old wipers off my 04 Suburban. What's the secret? And, I can't pull the wipes up off the window because they don't come up very far.

Any help is appreciated.

Wipers have become far too complicated on most vehicles. I am not looking at my Yukon right now but I believe you have what they call a "sheppards hook" that holds the wiper to the arm.

I am assuming that you are trying to change the entire blade and not just the refill? If so, you will need to reach under the sheppards hook and release the blade from the arm. If I am right, there will be a small plastic clip exposed that you simply depress with your finger. This allows the blade to be released and it will slide down the arm. Just the opposite of what you would think. Once it is down the arm and away from the hook, you move it back up and off the arm.

Again, I am not looking at mine right now but I think this is the style you have.

Ever get a chance to eat at Nash's in Broussard or Black's in Abbeville? Two of my favorite places to eat but I have not been at either in 2 or 3 years.

What you described sounds like what I did on my Silverado. The Suburban looks more complicated. It doesn't come up as far like my truck and I don't see/feel that little clip to depress. I'm sure it's simple, I just haven't found the trick yet.

I grew up in Broussard and have frequented Nash's often. Black's is out of this world! Some oysters would go down pretty good right now.

Where are you from?d

I am from Canton, MS, just above Jackson. I work for CARQUEST Auto Parts and my office is based in Baton Rouge so I travel in south LA a good deal.

I sure some may disagree, but there is no better food on earth than in your neck of the woods.

Of course the Zoo in Lafayette is the only zoo that I have ever visited that list the "recipe" for the animal on the name plaque right under it's official name. LOL

For those of you in other parts of the country, people from south Louisiana are known for their food and have been accused of eating almost anything that swims, burrows, flys, crawls, walks or slithers. Best of all, after they cook it, they want to share it with you and most of it is good stuff.
