Recommendation for shocks on '01 ECB

Hello everybody,

My dad is getting ready to replace the shocks on his 2001 Silverado extended cab. He drives it daily on the highway, and does occassionaly have the bed weighed down from Home Depot trips (home handyman). Any recommendations for some good shocks? TIA, - Shoot2Thrill

I would encourage him to look into KYB. This truck came from the factory with Mono Tube shocks and most replacements out there are Twin Tube. The Mono Tube by far is the best shock because the Oil and Gas are contained in seperate areas and cannot be mixed no matter how rough they are treated. Twin Tube shocks have the gas and oil mixed in the same cylinder. The more they move up and down, the more the oil and gas is mixed in turn reducing the control.

KYB offers a twin tube and it will be much cheaper than the Mono Tube. He could also step up to the KYB Mono Max but I would not recommend it if he is primarily on the highway and looking for a nice ride.

KYB is a very high quality product and comes from the factory on 1 out of every vehicles that you will see today. Two of their real quality differences is the fact that their cylinders are seam free where many other's cylinders have a weld running the entire length. They also use only solid loop mounts on shocks that mount with loops. In other words, the loop is solid with no weld except where it attaches to the shock.

We have sold Gabriel for years with CARQUEST but are now in the process of changing all of our stores to KYB. Not sure where you are located, but if you have a CQ store in your area, they may have already made the change.
