NAV and VIN question-New Owner

Hello, I am a new owner of a slightly used (11K) 2006 GMC Yukon XL with the factory NAV and RSE after having been a Ford Expedition owner for a long time. At the stealership the NAV did not come with a disk so the salesman got one from the shelf or another vehicle, I am not sure, either way the NAV appears to work fine with that disk. The disk says it is version 4.1. This may or may not be the correct forum for this, but I figured since it has to do with NAV it might be the best choice. I also did a seach and got a lot of hits, but none with this problem.

The original sticker shows that the NAV comes with two free updates and the parts guy at the dealer told me to go to gmnavdisc.com to look at getting those updates. When I go to the site and type in my VIN it says it is not valid. I get the same response from the mygmlink.com site as well. A CarFax though brings up the Yukon and gives me the history of it ok. I also checked the VIN on the car to make sure it is correct, and it is.

If it helps it appears that the Yukon was a GMC owned vehicle out of Lansing MI at what looks like a tech college of some sort prior to auction.

Any ideas on why I am getting that message? If it is ok to post the VIN on this site, I can do that as well if it helps!

Thanks and glad to be here!

Go to your dealership, and ask them to print off a build sheet for you. If by chance, someone added the NAV ssytem to your vehicle post-production, it would be obvious by the build sheet. Eveything on the factory build sheet should match the sticker codes in your glove box. Any service rep can run a build sheet for you.

as far as your VIN not being recognized...I had the same problem at mygmlink. I emailed costumer support and they added my VIN to the great big "database" in the sky. For whatever reason, mine wasn't in that database.

Sorry I do not have any suggestions for the NAV site

Thanks for the help! I called GMLINK and the NAV folks and got the VIN added. I am thinking it just wasn't added when the car was orginally bought. I have the original sticker that shows a NAV system, so I didn't get the build sheet. I *think* I am good to go now.
