Voltage Trouble

I have a 2001 Blazer. Last monday I went out to my truck and went to start it and it just kept clicking. The battery gauge was around the 9 volt mark so i figured the battery was dead and replaced it tuesday. Also after i replaced the batter i noticed my Gate Ajar light on and noticed my lift glass was popped a little so i assumed the dome lights had been on for a couple hours. Until tonight the trucks been fine i checked it with a voltmeter and with the truck running it was putting out about 14.3v. Tonight when i pulled up in front of my house i noticed my headlamps dim when i took my foot of the gas and my voltage was around 12v but after idling for a few seconds it jumped back upto 14v. When i replaced the battery i did notice some black streaks that looked like rubber on the pulley next to the alternator. I'm headin out to Advance Auto in the mornin to have them test out the alternator, but i just wanted to post on here to get some wise opinions.

Thanks,

John
