vortec max

I was just curious as to what was special about the vortec max. Is it a 5.3 or 6.0? What would I need to change my engine into a vortex max? I have an 5.3 in my 04. Whats the hp numbers? Thanks -Tyler

I beleive there are 5.3l vortec maxes, not very sure about it tho. I know there are 6.0l Vortec maxes, they put out 345 hp i beleive. If you have a regular 5.3 like I do, it puts out around 285 hp. I think the Vortec maxes have different heads maybe. There was a thread named pretty similar to this one about how many Vortec maxes were made, it has the info on them and whats different between them.

All 6.0 High Output, with heavier-duty tranny, a larger third member, heavier brakes and adjustable suspension. Pretty cool for a half-ton, but I'll still take my 2500HD Duramax/Allison.
