not bad for a 89

I recently sold my low rider car and headed in the opposite direction..

Here's my 89 Z71 that I picked up just a few weeks ago. It's got a 350, with only 158xxx kms on it, and it's in beautiful shape for the year it is. When I bought it, It needed minor repairs, such as a broken o2 sensor, ball joint, tail gate hinges and door pins. Im getting it back to tip-top shape, and fixing up some of the things the prevous owners let slide. Im still discovering mods that have been done that I was un-aware off, but so far the list consists of:

-Headers (not sure which brand but they are a short flow design)

-3" exhaust from front to back

-New 33x12.5" Firestone Destination M/T's on aluminum rims (also not sure about what kind they are, they are labled PCW on the caps with a picture of a panther)

-A/C has been removed

-Fender flairs (also not sure about the brand)

-Aftermarket tail lights

-Chrome bush guard (not in the pic) with dual off road lights

-3" body lift

-Stainless tail gate plate

-Roll pan rear

-After market mirrors

Does anybody know of a place to get intakes for this truck. Being a TBI system, it's hard to find stuff like cold air intakes etc, but I just want somthing that looks a little better under the hood.

go old style, 14in round open air cleaner with a K&N filter. Ive got the same setup on my 88 SIlv http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...hl%3Den%26lr%3D

get the air cleaner itself from a auto parts store. like MR GASKET brand< itl save$

Thanks for the info. What is needed to switch from the OEM set-up, I would assume I would need some kind of mount for a new filter like that. Im wondering from the K&N site, do those filters include the base to bolt it to your carb?

thanks

all i did was take off all the original air cleaner assembly and hoses. then measure the flange of your throttle body( same kind of flange as a carb)

and get the air cleaner that matches. I dont remember exactly what size mine was, something around 3 inches?? thats all youll need

That is a good looking truck.

These are from my old '91. If it had not been totaled by a drunk driver, I'd still be driving it. :banghead:

All I did was bought a cheap chrome air filter housing with a small 2 inch paper filter at Advance Auto Parts. I swapped that out with a 4 inch tall, 14 inch diameter K&N. It ran pretty good and sounded very good! You could hear it sucking air in from the inside the cab. :banghead:

I ran the stock setup in the winter because the heat riser tube that came up from the exhaust manifold helped it to warm up quicker.

Thanks guys. Like I said, someone took good care of her. Im not going to worry about the filter this year, because I want to run the stock one for the winter, but in the spring I think i'll try and rig somthing up.
