My day so far...

So, left the truck at the dealer near my office this morning to get them to replace the cluster and take a look at my s**tty 1-2 upshift. No problem, they gave me a 2006 Uplander with DVD to drive.

So, I get to work, brag to all my coworkers about how sweet the Uplander is.. dual power doors man!

Then.. an hour later around 9 I hear a page.. "Would the owner of a Silver Chevrolet Uplander with Maryland Dealer tags please call the operator?"

So, some guy using a weed wacker picked up a couple rocks and smashed the rear window on the Uplander.

The lawn company is taking care of it though, got to the dealer over my lunch break to meet with the body shop manager to get an estimate on the window, and he'd already spoked to the owner of the lawn company (who I'd spoken to earlier in the day), and said he was going to take care of it, gave me my truck, and I was on my way.

Now if only I could get a better solution on the cluster.. I have GMPP, so it has to be fixed at the dealer, but they ordered one with the CURRENT mileage on it, saying it won't be in for a couple of weeks.. I don't want my speedo to be off, so I asked if they could order with more mileage than I have.. nope.

I'm thinking I'll call back later and tell them to forget it, and wait until I can afford to not drive my truck or take it to another dealer over my winter break (after I'm done with my current co-op position).

So, that's my day so far. Also had a small crisis with some salesmen at work being stupid about the margins I have on this job we're bidding (pump company), but that's another rant altogether...

That's why I carry $1 Mil in insurance for my landscape company. Broken a few windows over the years, always fessed up and paid or repaired, but have never had to make a claim.

Sorry to hear you got nailed. And good luck with the stealership problems.

So, got the new cluster in. Looks great, and works. Did lose about 40 miles though, not too happy about that, but what can you do? At least it was free! (Sort of.. extended warranty and all that..)

Here's a pic of the Uplander.. hell of a nice vehicle, wish I could've had it longer!

LOL, you're too honest. Most people wouldn't mind a bit to have less actual miles showing. Unfortunately, there are some people willing to risk a felony charge over it :smash:

I'm kinda thinkin' I could tick it up a little, should be all I need to do is hook up power, ground, and put like 5v on the speedo input, all I should need is a wiring diagram and I'll run it up the ~40 miles that its low sometime when I have a free Saturday. No reason I couldn't run it off of a computer power supply, even.

Why would you do that? I have my cluster go bad, GM ordered a new one with current mileage. Took them 3 weeks to get it in and I racked up an additional 700 miles. I just went in 700 miles early for an oil change. No big deal.
