Took my almost 11 year old girl partridge hunting today for the first time and I learned a few things-

-if there is a leaf to step on that will produce massive amounts of noise it will be stepped on

-random rock throwing will occur

-after 1/2 mile of walking, massive, crippling blisters will appear

-the gun is too heavy

-they must be watered and fed every 15 minutes

-pee before you leave

-the compass is wrong, we're lost right?

-if we had the 4wheeler we wouldn't have to walk

-where are all the parrots today? We're hunting parrots right?

-a 20-Ga will make you cry when you shoot it

-there is more but I can't think of it, oh yes there is more

Friend of mines 12 year old daughter wants to go turkey hunting with him, after a week of hearing pleas and crying he says yes ok be ready at 6:00 am and we will go, they tromp to a place where he has seen turkeys in the past her with the shot gun him with the second cup of coffee in hand ( he thinks this will be a 30 min. deal and he can go back to do other things) He finds a good spot for her to sit and he backs up about 10 yards and leans against a tree drinking his cup of coffee and he never hears or sees the turkey but his daughter does and she opens fire with one quick shot the turkey falls and he cleans hot coffee off the front of his shirt!!! She jumps up and says daddy you go get that one and I wait for another one to come by. She now thinks turkey hunting is more fun that anything else she hunts!!!!

My cousin and I went Turkey hunting last spring and he had never been before. So I got him set up where I thought would be a good spot and sure enough it was. Several nice birds were 20 yards from him and I was wondering why the heck he wasn't shooting, he didnt even raise his gun. So I wait patiently, I couldnt shoot cause I probably would of hit him. Come to find out he fell asleep. No more turkey hunting trips with him. Oh yeah my cousin is 24 years old.

First gun I fired was a 12 ga, and I was 5. And THAT'S what kept me out of the guns when dad wasn't around. :) Not a retarded gun lock.

My little sister (she was about 12 at the time) wanted to go clay shooting with us once, but didn't want to shoot the shotgun after a couple of rounds. So dad hands her a .22 Ruger pistol. THWACK...Pigeons in the air... BOOM poppoppop BOOM poppoppop BOOM....Was the common sound heard.

Until dad and I were out of rounds, and there was still one flying...poppoppop CRACK.

Yup, she shot one out of the air with a .22. Pure luck, but there was no way we were ever going without her again after that.
