Powersteering wont turn right

I have a 2000 GMC sierra ext cab 4x4 that will not turn right. It does whine really bad when i try to turn right. it doesnt whine at all turning left, and turns left perfectly fine. It only has this symtom at either stopped or very low speeds. I was reading other posts where it might be the box, or the valve in the box, is this valve replaceable in my vehicle? Im very mechanically inclined so any repair is possible by me. Any help would be appretiated.

Thanks Dustin

PS, i lifted my truck recently, dont worry the PS was already messed up before i lifted it but what i was wondering is i saw steering dampers on the 2500 and 3500 i have a 1500 can i put this thing on it? I see the hole in the steering bar for the stabilizer, where does it mount too on the frame? I want to get a stabilizer cause im running big tires. Also i need a new pitman arm and idler arm, where can i get maybe upgraded ones or just replacements without paying an arm and a leg to the dealer.. Thanks again

Sounds like its time for a new steering box unless you can see mechanical interference between the suspension/steering system and the body or frame. Check in the area around the idler arm particularly, you could be rubbing something there.
