EBrake Light wont go out

This is on my mom's 97 S10 2.2L

 

Its a 5-speed, so she put the e-brake on (on a steep hill) to drop off the mail. She got back in, popped the ebrake level, and the brakes popped...light went off.

 

About 10 minutes later, the light came back on.

 

Now this is wierd, because i know about the sensor under the pedal that controls DRL and Ebrake...but when the ebrake is out, the DRL's DO work.

 

I also plugged in my code reader...zero codes.

 

Any ideas?

I had this problem for some reason on my mom's 95 Astro van. After engaging the e brake the light came on, but then stayed on after disengaging the brake. I just pulled the wire off that was connected to the back of the ebrake, and the light went out. I never did fix it correctly for her because soon after she ended up blowing the engine and getting rid of the van.
