PIAA vs. Silverstar bulbs

Do they really make a difference compaired to the stock bulbs and is there any other mods or parts I would need or do they just plug right in?

Also does anyone recommend the High-4 kit?

I have the high-4 kit on my truck (not sure the exact brand name).

There are various kits out there, and if you're inclined, you can do it yourself for much cheaper.

Anyways, I like the 4-high mod....really lights up the road at night. ;)

Recent tests (Consumer Reports comes to mind) showed that the SilverStars did not produce anymore light than the factory 9006 bulbs, had a shorter life cycle and cost 2 to 3 times more.

Save your money unless you want the cool factor look :)

Whatever they say, I put Silverstars in headligts and fog lights, and a hi-low kit. and

they seem a whole lot brighter to me. Also, have had Silverstars in my wifes car for probably 2+ years with no trouble. And PIAA? talk about expensive! saw them for $80.00 a set.

I had one of my lows go out after a year.... Junk, I put the stockers back in and left the highs in. We shall see how long they last. I don't think the cost vs life is worth it.

I like the 4 high. I made my own (kit) for 12 bucks. I also put a relay on the lows so they get full power.

I have been using the PIAA 9005 & 9006 Extreme White Plus Bulbs(4000K) now for 4 years and have had absolutely no problems with them. They produce a lot more light than stock and work just fine with the factory Hi/Low system. I would choose these over Silverstars any day of the week. The extra cost IMHO is worth it as I keep hearing about the short life of the Silverstars.

I'm using SilverStar's for the low beams of my 99 and they have been in there for going on 4 years now. They do have more light output in lumens that the stock halogen bulbs and the color temp is slightly higher.

I also have SilverStar 6054 lamps in my 87 Vette and they are hundreds times better than the old stock halogen lamps that were in there.

I have Silverstars in my high beams but stock in my lows since there is no Silverstar (H11) available yet. I really can not see at night with the stock. I am wonderinf if I should try the PIAA H11 until the SilverStars have that model of bulb.

I have a question, what is the high 4 kit mod? does it enable the lows & high beams to be on at the same time? if so where could I get that kit and is it at all difficult to install?

I would also like to know what this kit is. I have a 2001 Suburban, can I use this kit?

thanks

PIAA / SilerStar is the topic. I still want an answer which is better side by side. My truck has all 4 bulbs lit stock. Maybe this topic exists somewhere else.

THis is is for the bulbs! Come on!
