Suburban Running Boards on the 2500HD (The Results)

A few days ago I posted that I was going to try the Suburban OEM running boards on my 2500HD CC.

Well the boards arrived today and I just finished installing one of them, the boards bolted right up with the factory hardware that came with them, they look good and are very strong however they are about 2" too long and don't fit perfectly with the back of the cab so I haven't decided what to do yet but I'll keep working on the cosmetics, I have cut some ABS sheet the same texture as the boards and will cover the gap at the back of the boards, hopefully with a little work I will get the results I'm looking for, they really look good, I'm just to dang picky :)

Here are pictures of the running boards installed on my truck,http://www.rtol.net/scornell/runboard.htm  take a look and let me know what you think

They look good on there Steve.  It's almost hard for me to tell where they don't fit properly.  Is it the way is forms to the rear part of the cab?

If your selling them for close to the price you paid for them, I'd say someone without them on a Sub would be getting a good deal considering the dealer wants ?.00 for them.

I know what you mean though about something not being exactly how you had in mind or wanted.

Steve, I prefer the Nerf Bars that you had on the truck before. Of course that may be because I have the same color truck but ext cab and I like the looks of them. I think you will find that the little open area at the end of the running board will end up either causing problems (collecting dirt) or detract from the looks (you'll always know it's there)

I can see how that small area would bother you a little.  Is there any aftermarket molded boards for these crewcabs?

Let me know about your Westins, Steve.  If you don't end up putting them back on I'm still interested in them...

I GOT A 2001 2500HD AND I PUT THE BOARDS THAT ARE MADE BY LUVERN THEY ARE GREAT AND ARE STAINLESS WITH THE STEP PAD MADE OF A HARD RUBBER

The only aftermarket boards that are even close (black molded) are the Westins, Steel Horse, or Cord, all of these boards appear to come from the same factory, they are not molded to fit the cab but look just like the boards on the Ford SUVs, all the ones I've seen are 93" long so they stick back 3" further than mine, I'll leave them on over the weekend and make a decision.

Shaners,

I'll be selling the Westin CPS bars but I'll keep them until I decide what to put on the truck.

I took a few more pictures of the Suburban boards on my 2500HD CC this evening, they are at http://www.rtol.net/scornell/runboard.htm

You can read my comments there but although they look great and I really don't think anyone would notice the length difference being the indecisive person that I am :)I'm going to keep looking for something different.

At a distant (like your pics), I think they look pretty good and you are right that most everyone won't notice...  But it is your truck and you know it better than anyone and you'll notice it everytime you look at it!!!   It's a pain in the rear being picky/meticulous (sp?) isn't it??? LOL
