Adding power options after the fact

If I wanted to add GM power windows and door locks to a truck I'm thinking about buying later on down the road, how difficult would it be to do? Would I be able to get all GM parts from the dealer?

My advice is to buy a truck that already has that stuff. Is it doable? Anything is doable given enough time, money and knowledge.

 

Our body shop manager did this very upgrade on his own truck. He had an identical truck in the body shop that was totalled and he swiped all the parts from that truck and put them in his. In the end, we were never able to get the locks to work quite right. I don't recall what the problem was, but I think it had something to do with the remotes.

 

I'm sure you can probably buy all the parts you need from GM. Be prepared to write a big, fat check for several thousand dollars.

 

Like I said, buy a truck that already has this stuff. You'll be much happier.
