Wet floorboard carpet 99 Silverado

I have been experiencing a wet carpet in my 1999 silverado for the past few months. There is no smell of antifreeze and I have been in dry conditions and the carpet still becomes wet. I recently added a small amount of antifreeze, but not enough to compensate for the moisture in the carpet (driver side and passenger side). At one point, the driver side was so wet that when I would push down, water would come out. I have had no fogging or any filming on the windshield. When I use the heat, it seems to come out fine. I have even driven with nothing but the vent runnning and still the carpets get wet. I have kept in the garage thinking maybe rain was building up somewhere, but still wet. Any ideas?

There's no mistaking the feel of antifreeze if you get it on your hands. It's very slimy and simply wiping your hands with a dry towel will usually not remove it very effectively. So you should be able to tell if this is plain water or antifreeze.

If it's so deep that it soaks through the carpeting, I'd say you'd notice a significant loss of coolant in the reservoir.

No slime on the hands, so it must be some other source. It is affecting both sides ( the driver's side more heavily). I placed a white napkin underneath my mat to see if it would be red. After driving, I checked it. It was wet, but still white.

It is affecting both sides

Okay, so it's plain water. Rain water or from washing the vehicle. The fact that it's on both sides *usually* elminates A/C condensate as the cause as that usually only affects the passenger side. Any aftermarket stuff whose wires have been run through the firewall and not properly sealed? See that all the time. But that usually affects one side too.

As mentioned to several others here with water leaks, you just have to water test with a hose and see if you can find the entry point of the leak. It's not easy.

I am having a similar issue. I think the source of my problem is a grommel underneath the drivers' side floor. You might want to check that out. I noticed that water was coming in when it rained. Its gotten kinda bad but I don't know what to do about it. A temp. fix would be to put caulking around it but i dont want to mess with it after I fix it. If you pull up the floor trim, you can just pull the carpet and padding underneath and its easy to see if thats the problem. Mine is kind of moldy. I dont think you can buy just that seal, but if someone knows where i could get it that would be great.
