Clunk in rear end?

Everytime I take off from a stop... well maybe not everytime, probably 60% of the time. When I take off from a stop I hear a kind of high pitched clunk in the rear end. Any ideas about what this may be?

This happened on my 97 Tahoe earlier this year. Crawl underneath and look and see if you have a U-Joint going out. Grab the drive line (while in park) and try to rotate the drive shaft back and forth. Check both ends of the driveshaft as one of my U-joints had more wear than the other.

Never heard "high pitched" used along with "clunk", but I suspect it could be the infamous slip yoke clunk. Do a search for that. It's been discussed probably thousands of times.
