Stuck in Tow/Haul

Recommended Posts

Left for a 2 1/2 hr trip towing the boat (2500-3000#) and off a red light in town before hitting the highway, it was like it was in neutral for 1 or 2 seconds then 'caught' (slipping/ not engaging?) it wasn't the 'starting in 2nd' deal).

Towed at 55-60mph for 2 hrs in tow/haul then coming into town I usually take it out of tow mode. This time it wouldn't come out of tow/haul. Got home, turn off the truck, re-start, everything's normal. It would go into & come out of tow/haul fine. Fluid level is OK.

very :D

Might have a long trip coming up over the holidays and don't need any BS. Anyone know what's up?

TIA

My '01 HD did the neutral thing. It got to the point that a couple of times I saw 2 grand on the tach and then "bang/chirp" it slammed into gear... I was still under warranty at the time, and the truck actually did it for the service mgr and the tech (to my surprise I didn't get a "could not duplicate" response). The dealer said he reprogrammed the computer and the truck has never done it again ( a good freind now owns the truck)..

As far as the tow/haul thing is concerned, i cam't help you...

Does disonnecting the battery reset this program too? or does the dealer really have 'new' software to flash into my truck?

Disconnecting the battery for awhile may help some, but I'm not sure it will cure your problem.

I would suggest calling or stopping by your local service dept at your dealer. Pick his brain a little and ask him if there are any updates to your computer that may help with this problem.

had a bit of slip bang when pulling away occasionally. My last tranny service they reflashed the computer and it feels like a new transmision, big difference so far. No tow/haul problems
