IF you can't shoot it, run it over!

My 99 Yukon just did a 2000mi round trip to WI and back to VA. While home I had the luck of being able to go deer hunting. Of course I didn't get to shoot any, but my Yukon promptly decided to show me up by smaking one broadside about a day before comming home to VA.

This has done very little damage. The plastic grill is cracked and I should probalby go get a new one and the guard between the bumper and body on top is cracked a bit. I may think about replacing this if I find same color for cheap.

The main concern is that I have noticed an oil leak since comming home. Now, I have NOT had to accually add any oil, so I assume its a very slow leak, yet the pictures below lead me to believe it is an oil pan gasket.

What do you think?

I know this is easy to fix. Can I get the pan off without messing with the timing chain cover? Or does that have to come of first?

Thanks

Well I'd start from the premise that the pan was whacked out of position a mil or two when you ran over the deer.

I'd clean up the area...i.e some carb spray/parts cleaner, and a rag. Carefully loosen and re-tighten the pan while sliding it forward a mil. May be all it needs.

Did it leak before ? Did you run up-n- over it ?

If you did...keep in mind that it's 400-600 pounds of sloppy fur and hitting pretty good might be enough to push the pan back...especially if it's slightly loose.

Just a thought......

I live in wisconsin and I hate the deer.....they are very STUPID !

400-600 lb deer?... WTF... its like deerzilla or something.

Yeah I went up and over it, but with the guard on it for the transfer case I doubt the deer made it up all the way to hit the pan. No, it didn't leak before. Just started leaking after....
