sgchap3 Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Yep that's right, that same problem I had before guys! Bank 2 sensor 2 dead again! The dealership is going to replace it again but this will be the last time. They are worried that GM might start looking into it and if they find out I have the aftmarket exhaust on there they could go back and charge the dealership for all the work... Now on to the problem. They think it is something on that side getting to hot and burning up the sensor. It goes in and out of working but as of yesterday it show 0 on the computer, dead! the last 3 times it's set off the 'check engine light' I was doing exactly 68 mph??? They don't think it's a wire because it works for awhile then goes and not a ground problems because the other 3 sensors are fine... So now what??? Is it possible that side is running hotter? Is there something else we're missing? Very frustrating and I would really like to get this solved... Any help and/or ideas please let me know... Thanks
dewfpo Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Usually, the hotter they get, the better they read. When they took the sensors out, were their any deposits on the sensor? Could it be getting contaminated somehow? Their pretty sturdy. Contamination and wiring problems are the most common issue, other then them getting "lazy" and not responding as quickly to change as they used to. Did they check the resistance of the wires? Are they sure the senors are going bad or could their be a problem with the wiring between the sensor and the ECM/wiring harness? Just because the other 3 sensors are working doesn't mean there isn't a gound problem with the 4th sensor. Have you recently used any carb cleaner or sea foam or something that went thru the intake system. Re-oiled your aftermarket air filter, etc..... DEWFPO
99Silver6.0 Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Vette sensors are a bit more resilient. They can take more heat. Might wanna look into them.

DEWFPO Well that's what I thought too and if it's 'too hot' under there why isn't the front one burning out too??? They said they checked the wires but not sure how? The code for the sensor was low voltage and something else... I did run a bottle of carb cleaner though a tank of gas back a few weeks ago and last week there was a leak and they used degreaser under the whole truck to clean it off...
sgchap3 Posted January 23, 2007 Author Posted January 23, 2007 WELL GUYS EVERYTHING CHECKS OUT! THE DEALERSHIP WENT OVER THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION, COOLANT SYSTEM AND MOTOR AND FOUND NOTHING. IN FACT, THEY ALL COMMENTED ON HOW WELL THEY THOUGHT IT WAS RUNNING AND THE ROAD TEST WITH THE SCANNER SHOWED NO PROBLEMS WHAT SO EVER... THEY ALSO REPLACED THE 02 AND SAID IT LOOKED ALITTLE CORRODED AND MAYBE SOMETHING GOT ON IT SO WE'LL WAIT AND SEE HOW LONG IT HOLDS UP THIS TIME... NOW WHAT DO I DO ABOUT MY DYNO GUY??? HE THINKS THE TORQUE IS SLIPPING TO MUCH, THE DEALERSHIP SAID "NO SLIPPAGE BUT MAYBE UNDER HARDER CONDITIONS LIKE A DYNO RUN MAYBE IT DOES SLIP SOME"... WELL I WISH I COULD RUN OUT TO GA QUICK AND HAVE THE TORQUE CONVERTER GUY LOOK AT IT TOO BUT THAT'S A HELL OF A TRIP... LOL
