'00 Rearview mirror thermometer reads "OC"???

I've got a 2000 Silverado 1500 Z71. My rear view mirror is the stock factory dimming mirror with the compass and thermometer. All of this used to work great until the other day I noticed that the temperature reading just said "OC" and won't change. My compass is working just fine still, but the thermometer is on the fritz. Any suggestions???
