33" Tires w/4.56 gears

Does anyone run 33" tires with 4.56 gears that have some real world, seat of your pants experience they can share with me? Power (it must be insane!), MPG, Towing, and daily driving? I'm re-gearing soon and am going back and forth between 4.10 and 4.56's. I currently have 6"lift w/33's and 3.42 in the rear that really lags. 85% of my driving is highway and i only tow in the summer a 4K boat.

I've done a search, but it seems most people have 35" w/4.56. I plan on getting 35's once i run down my 33's. A supercharger may come into play aa year or so from now if that makes a difference. Thanks all

I have the 4.10s in my truck with a 6" lift running 33's. I dont do any towing but for normal every day driving i have not noticed any difference between the stock tires and the 33s as far as acceleration. My truck still takes off pretty quickly without any modifications. I figure when i get a custom tune i'll get even more out of it. BTW, i have the 6.0L. I wouldnt think a switch to 4.56 would be necessary - even with 35's. The 4.10s should be ok and still save you some mileage. Those 3.42s must be a dog ;) 4.56s would be killer.

I have the 6.0 with 33" and 4.56....I can run at 80 mph all day, and just break 2200 rpm. Fuel eco is not that bad actually....I like the set up

4.56 is an overkill for a 33 unless you think you're going bigger to a 35 or larger later a 3.73 or a 4.10 will be more than fine. I have 33's with a 3.42 and a tuner, the tuner woke mine up a lot but I still want to regear. I'll go to 3.73 this year but then I'm not going bigger than a 33 tire too.

4.56 and a 6.0 and you're fuel economy is not that bad? Define not that bad...10 MPG or less? You can't possibly be getting better than 10MPG with that set up...and I bet it hauls butt too.

That's AWESOME! If you're around 2200 RPMs at 80MPH then you're right in the optimal range for the engine. So i would believe that you're getting good fuel economy ~16+. I plan on getting 35's once I wear out my 33's, but that won't be for a few years. So it looks like i'll have great towing power until then.

I will sh*t a brick if he's getting 16+ mpg with that setup.

I will s**t a brick too!!! My odo doesnt light up, so I cant really tell the exact MPG. Ive had this rig for about 3 weeks now. When I picked it up, I had to tow back a toyota pick up. With a full tank, up and down valleys, cruising at 70 mph, I went +/- 250 miles to my door step. I counted the miles going down where I picked it up at with the toyota. It took a tank and a quarter to get there with the yota...This set up on the truck seems to be right on the money for both worlds. Fuel and power. Its lifted, good lift kit, nice wheels and tires, a 2500, and Im happy with it, especially if im towing, which is what this truck are made for, . If I really was into the whole fuel economy thing, I would probably look into a camry or something!! :chevrolet:

xsports33 give me a jingle if you gear to 4.56, I would like to know your experiece with the set up and how you like it...

I'm getting the 4.56's installed today so i'll let you guys know in a few days how that's working out for me. I know the 33"s are going to make me run a high RPM cruising, but i'll let you know the power and mpgs. I won't know the towing effects right away because i have to break in the new gears for ~500 miles before i can tow.

so yeah where can you go to get new gears? cuz running 35'' tires on a 3.73 is KILLING ME, i get like 10 mpg. I NEED TO REGEAR soo bad soo if yall could give me some info. and some pricing that would be much appreciated

OMG I drive a completely different truck with 4.56 gears. I pull so hard off the line it ridiculous, and I haven’t even gunned it out of the hole yet. I have about 250 more miles to break in the new gears then I can start turning some serious rubber. It’s weird, my truck would always down shift going up various grades, but now I never down shift. My truck feels like it’s always pulling forward and wanting to accelerate. I was climbing a pretty steep grade last night at maybe ¼ throttle at 80mph and still accelerating. My MPG went down about 1-1.5 highway, but my power increased exponentially. My city MPG actually went up because I don’t have to put some much pedal down to get going. Once I get the 35” on I’ll be in a lower RPM range that will **maybe** give me a tad more MPG highway.

In a few days i'll let you guys know how towing goes.

    • I’ve own several successful businesses. I’ve bought homes and lived in different states. I’d witness several generations buy homes and survive in different economic circumstances. You get awful sippy when people have different experiences than you do. You live a life. I’ve lived a life. It seems our experience has been different. You can point out generalized statistics. Some people learn how to thrive when the odds are against them. Living in different states does make a difference in a persons quality of life and economic outcomes and opportunities. That’s a fact Jack. It’s my truth, my life. Hard work and long hours the right environment made my families life easier. And yes moving to a different state increased the odds of that happening. Stats are generalized. People who thrive don’t make excuses. They beat the odds. Others get mad and point to those statistics. I guess that’s you. My post pointed out how you helped people beat the odds. Somehow your panties got in a wad. Go figure.
    • Good question, I don't remember for sure but I believe it was the HD. I will check and get back to you.
    • Point of the post sir was that while both wages and cost are rising EVERYWHERE; the cost is rising faster EVERYWHERE than the ability to buy EVERYWHERE. We're not going down the location rabbit hole. I'm aware of what economic migration is. I've lived in four states including Texas.   It's what "Purchasing Power" means.   I'm not telling you what I think. Your not entitled to your own facts. If you and I were, they wouldn't be facts.    fact /făkt/   noun Knowledge or information based on real occurrences. • Probably a one and done post, but do you have a CEL on the dash? Was having issues with my transmission, fortunately only a week, and it turned out to be the transmission harness. Valve body was in good shape, so new harness with all the sensors attached, new fluid, and filter. Seems to have worked so far?
    • Two interesting tidbits of information which are NOT related were just released.   One, regarding the possible thrust bearing issues / engine failures with the 3.0. Demonworks just did a segment in which they believe they may have found "a" or "the" cause of thrust bearing failures: A missing thrust bearing. If the engine doesn't have all its thrust bearings from the factory, the missing bearing can cause extra play which ends up destroying a nearby thrust bearing which then sends metal through the engine.       Of other importance, Lake Speed Jr released some interest information regarding oil weight selection for the 3.0. Comparisons of:   AcDelco 0w20 Dexos D Mobil 1 ESP x2 0w20 Dexos D Mobil 1 ESP x2 0w30 Mobil 1 ESP x4 0w40. Mobil Delvac 5w40   Spoiler alert: The Mobils are PAO Ester -base and the ACDelco is a Group III base. Mobil shows lower wear in their tests for similar weights. Additive packages between 20-30-40 weight ESP's appear to be the same, but only 0w20 is Dexos D licensed. Wear is even more reduced with 30 and 40 weight ESP although all perform very well and resist shear and provide very similar viscosities within temperature operating ranges in the 3.0.   There are even more surprises, so just go watch it.
