tranny wont stay in first gear

i have an 89 s10 4 cyl with a 5 speed. the tranny wont stay in 1st gear i dont know whats wrong i go to take off and it come out of gear so i have to take of in 2nd. ive taken it offroading but not too bad

A pretty classic symptom of a worn out transmission. It could just be a worn shifter fork, but usually, by the time they are shot, you have worn out synchronizers, too.

now i lost 3rd and 4th gears. it feels like its in neutral its pissing me off i didnt hear no grinding or any warning. i had them stopped on a hill took off in 2nd bcuz i dont have 1st and went to shift into 3rd and nothing so i try again nothing so i go to 4th and nothing and to 5th i have something but at 20 mph its bogging out. so i dropped the tranny now what is cheaper going through and rebuild or a junkyard swap and what model
