Lookin to get some 17 or 18's w/ maybe 285-65 tires for a 06 2500 HD 4x4 CC. suggestions?

 

I like chrome 6 or 8 spoke deep set.

If you put on aftermarket wheels with 285's, you'll probably need to lift. The aftermarket wheels widen your track by at least an inch, and that will make 285's rub, where they wouldn't have rubbed on the factory wheels. Trimming and cranking won't be enough.

 

Alcoa makes a set of 17" wheels with the offset pretty close to the factory wheel offset. Classic-8's. Not sure, but if somebody has these, and 285's, maybe they can tell us what they had to do (trim, lift, crank) to make them work.

I actually like the stock rims. I just had 285's installed on my stock rims and didn't have to do a thing - trimming or cranking. I did have Mickey Thompson Classic II's on my 03 with 305's and a Body Lift. Even with the BL I had to trim a little bit to get the 305's to fit. With the 285's on my 07 HD I didn't have to do a thing and there's no rubbing whatsoever.

Any loss in power or mileage? I have the 245's and was thinking about 265's or 285's....
