Hi Bobcat5544,

 

is a crank relearn something that i can do myself of dose it have to go into the GM dealer to have this process done. i want to put a Jesse tune on my 2004 2500HD i have been told that the crank relearn may need to be done after i change the pcm. I am going to keep my stock one just in case there is problems with Smog laws in Califorina where i live. Thanks in advance you your help.

I would say a crank relearn is something mandated and not recommended...and no you cannot do it yourself unless you have a $600 gm tech tool...Or you can try these techniques http://www.bsecorp.com/files/techtips/ST9303l.pdf ...And I think the new PCM would only help your emissions, but do not quote me on that.

I had a Wait4Me tune in my last truck. Took it by the dealership, and the tech didn't charge me for the crank relearn service. It took him less than five minutes. I would say take it to the dealership and ask the tech if he'll charge you for it.
