Looking for OnStar and XM unit Pics

I am looking at adding both units to my 06 Sierra and was wondering if anyone has a picture of these units mounted in the dash or the location that they come from the factory.

Thanks

I may be wrong, but I don't think you can add OnStar after the fact if it didn't come from the factory. OnStar controls are located within the inside rear view mirror on '06 models. You can also access it with the optional steering wheel controls.

You can add XM directly to your non-XM factory radio via modules you can buy. jpcustoms.com sells them.

Try this link if you want to see the radios for that year truck. It is the GM online ordering guide:

whoops! I don't think the whole link came through.

If that link doesn't work you might have to go to the main site, search for your make and year and within there somewhere is a radio section that has the factory radio pictures

XM units can be mounted anywhere. They come with mounts that clip onto the vents, mount with adhesive to stick where you want it. You can also buy many mounts such as suction cups and ones that fit in the cup holder. Most all of them come with built in FM modulators. Just pick a station in your area that is not being used by a radio station and it will play thru your speakers. I can get a pic of mine later if you would like. I have mine on the center vent right above the airbag disarm switch. I have the magnetic antenna mounted on the roof and the wire run under the window rubber trim, under the dash and out where the adapter plugs are. I have the power adapter plugged in there as well so it looks very clean. I love XM and never listen to FM anymore. I am a Texas Rangers fan so it is nice that XM broadcasts every MLB game. I listen to CNN on the way to work, comedy channel on the way home and various rock stations the rest of the time.

The Factory Mounts the XM Tuner behind the glove box in the 06 and that plugs into the stereo, the On*Star is built into the miror and works through the stereo. If you need some pics bad go down to the dealership with a digital camera and take some.

Yes, XM is simple, but Onstar is not something that can be added--there's extra wiring and sensors, and it's just not something that's done after the fact.
