Fuel Injectors

2 questions, will partially clogged or bad injectors kick the engine light on?

 

Also, I searched the board and seen 2 different "brands" of injector cleaning. Who would you recommend, I am talking about the 3 part cleaning or similiar.

Not sure what a 3 part cleaner is, maybe seafoam..I added some Lucas injector cleaner a few tanks ago, seems to be ok.

Yes injectors will trigger a CEL. Continued driving with them plugged will also do other damage such as frying the cat convertor. Once they are blocked to this point, chemical cleaners won't do anything because there is little or no flow through the injector to get the cleaner to where it is needed. They will need to be ultrasonically cleaned. I had mine done a few years ago. Try looking for companies that service diesel equipment as they have the experience and equipment to work on injectors. They usually do a flow test after the injectors have been cleaned. I paid $15.00 per injector which seemed a bit high but it was the only place around that could do it.

Thanks for your reply indy. I was wondering if the problem I have was caused by foul injectors. I am not getting the check engine light so I can now at least somewhat rule injectors out. I am going to start off by cleaning my throttle body, if not fixed, my pressure regulator still not fixed maybe my fuel pump.
