bed liner or spray liner

I have a spray-in and love it. It can take almost anything. The drop-in liners I've seen all look like crap after a while. But, the spray-in type look good for years and years.

I would agree! I had a drop in liner that scratched all the paint off the box in several areas, down to the metal, then it started rusting in these spots! Also, when I took it out, there was a bunch of dirt and other debris all over the inside of the box.

Go with the spray-in! I would suggest Line-X, Rhino or Speedliner, in my opinion three of the best.

I'm thinking about getting the cargo management...

now do you put in a bed liner or spray liner?

With the factory installed cargo in-bed cargo management, you have to do a spray liner, as far as I know. I would look at Line-X and Speed Liner. I just put Line-X into my NBS 07 long bed with the track system. It looks great and allows the tool boxes to slide with ease on the rail system. I would steer clear of Rhino. Line-X and Speed Liner are both better in all regards. Line-X has a slight edge because of the nation-wide warranty.

Usually a good shop can work around your accessories in the bed. I would show them the cargo management, or leave it in and have them remove it and re-install after spraying, that way they will know where not to spray, what to mask, etc.

My opinion the spray ons are similar and all have good qualities, but the key is finding the right installer. I had a Rhino lining put in with a color matched top coat for about $700. It was nice, but not perfect. Had some runs, some uneven coloring, etc. Next truck I had Line-X sprayed for around $450 and it looked great. I feel it was due to a better technician and better tape on the edges, more even spray thickness.

I liked the softer Rhino for its grippy properties, but the Line-X was harder and more durable. I just picked up an 07 GMC and my dealer just started doing Reflex coating recently. I thought it was a good fit in between. it was grippy line the Rhino, but had the looks and neat texture of the Line-X. I think I will have it done at some point.

The drop-in liners will not only rub through the paint,

but they also collect alot of crud underneath that could

hold moisture and eventually cause rust.

Go with a spray-in and you won't regret it.

Reflex is OK, but Line-X is far better. When looking for an installer, find one that has been in the business for a number of years and will stand behind their work. New installers usally are not good at providing even coverage. I drove an hour to get to a Line-X dealer that has been doing it since it came out! He did a great job, compared to my local dealer, who just got into this and has no idea how to properly spray the product.

My new Sierra SLT has the cargo management system already in it. I have purchaced a bedliner for it from the dealer for under $280.oo. They are makeing 2 beliners from what I understand for the NBS, one with cargo management and one without. I had a rhino liner in anther truck and it scratched and had to be patched several times. Sure beliners where the paint off under them, but what do you think they do when they install a spray in, they grind off all the paint in the liner area.

Not true; they only sand the shine off the paint.

for sure go with the spray on. I have a regular bed liner and is what came with the truck dont think its near as nice as the spray will be getting a spray in for my next truck for sure. Plus the regular ones are really splippery if your hauling anything spray in actually have some grip...

Get the spray in. I have had both and unless you live in a very dry area (Az or CA) you will get condensate and rust under the plastic liner, as well as paint wearing off. I use my truck for construction and so keep a piece of 1/2" plywood to protect the liner from excessive abuse. So far so good after 18 months of daily use. If you use the truck for any kind of hauling, get the spray over the rail so that it is protected. Line-X did a great job and their little yellow sticker came right off the back window (no reason to advertise someone else's product on my company truck).

Please don't judge other spray liners by Rhino. They are not even in the same ball-park as Line-X.

Linex, all the way. And they have a nationwide warranty from any defects including digs and rips. My local dealer takes care of any problems even if I caused it. They back up there product!

Currently in the midst of getting rid of my 1995 that had a drop in bed liner (replacement is a new 2007 classic  ). Anyway, before putting the '95 up for sale, I pulled out the bed liner to clean any crap that had accumulated in-between the liner and bed. Was pleasantly suprised to see that, after 12 years, although there were a lot of rub marks in the paint, nothing was down to bare metal. I figure it mostly depends on how well (tight) the liner fits as to whether significant deterioration of the paint occurs due to rubbing.

My 2 cents anyway
