Brake job

Recommended Posts

I had new pads and rotors put on my Tahoe. The guy told me to be sure I seat everything good, before I pull my boat. What exactly do I need to do to seat the brakes?

Try to avoid panic stops or hard stops for the first couple hundred miles. It is best to have about 20 mild braking sessions each followed by a 1 minuted cooling cycle. If you hit them too hard too soon you can glaze the rotor and pad. It needs some mild braking to transfer some friction material to the rotor. I agree that with new ceramic pads, the issue is much lees than in the past or with high performance frictions.
