Blocking off EGR valve?

Recommended Posts

I am rebuilding a stock 350 for my 88 truck. I would like to get rid of the emisions devices that arn't neccesary because of the problems they cause. I live in Vermont so they don't check for any of that stuff on inspections any way. So I was thinking of taking the EGR valve off of the intake manifold and making a small metal plate to bolt over the hole. Could there be any problems caused by this? Would it run too hot then?

Thanks for the help

You will have a SES light and possible spark knock. EGR slows down detonation & cleans up exhaust gasses sow we can breath. Leave you emissions equiptment alone its not going to hurt your performance any big amount on the street.
