2500HD Ex-cab w/ 6.0 & 5-speed?

Does anyone have a 2500HD Extended cab with a  6.0L and the 5-speed manual transmission?

How hard are these trucks to find?  What kind of mileage?  Any mileage improvement over the 4L80E equipped trucks?

I do actually prefer a manual transmission and am not solely looking at mileage.

I just bought this very truck. Unfotunatley, I haven't pulled my car yet or ran one full tank of gas to check mileage.

So basically I can't help you other than to say I have one.

I tend to get about 13-14 MPG around town. I don't do a lot of HWY driving, so I'm not sure about milage there. On one HWY trip I got about 14 MPG, but I was fighting cross/head winds most of the way.

6.0 3.73 L480 towing 9-10 mpg highway little less if I hammer it.I have gotten 7.

empty highway best i seen was 16.

town 12-14.

Not too bad for 3 tonns of truck in my book.

I think the manual would be fun myself. Probably rev better. Side stepping the clutch would probably break your neck. Have not heard too much about the 5sp good or bad.

Thanks guys!

How many of the 5-speed trucks did you find on dealer lots?  Was it like looking for a needle in a haystack or are there actually quite a few around?

AllZWay,

Let me know how the highway mileage turns out.  I'm going to go look at trucks this weekend.  I think I may go diesel since I drive 30,000+ miles a year due to my current job.

Thanks!

Never seen a 5sp on the HDs. I think  most people who want a manual go with the duramax and 6sp.  The 6.0s seems to serve in  a  family/truck role.

I just got back from a 2500 mile trip back to Wyoming...  I got a little less than 17 on the way out there... and around 15 on the way back.  The only mod I've done is a K&N FIPK... I'm very pleased with the mileage and power... and yes -- manuals are much more fun!

BTW - the 6.0/5-speed combo must be rare... I've had comments from my dealer and the dealer in Wyoming -- they don't see many of them...

I prefered stick also. They said the only one that was close to what I was looking for was in California and I'm in Florida! I wanted stick not only for cost reasons but for reliability and weight. I was willing to factory order EXACTLY what I wanted with stick but it was too late. I don't like the brutal front end of the 03s so I went with the automatic 02. Good luck.

There was a 2002 GMC crew cab 6.0 5 speed in Hudson Wi zip code 54016.  Try GM Buypower or Denny Hecker GMC. The guy who ordered it backed out so the longer it sits the more willing they will deal.  I talked to a saleswoman there and she said the list price was different than online.  I think she didn't knew which truck I was really talking about so refer to it by the VIN number.  I live only 6 miles from there if you need help.

By the way Hudson is a $50.00 cab ride from the Minneapolis airport so if you can get cheap rates it might be an option.

I ran my first full tank though just the other day.  With a combination of Hwy & city driving, I got almost exactly 12mpg.

I'll test out towing next month when I pull my car about 350 miles.
