Loud Popp/clunk

Hello All....plz help,

I have a 2005 Yukon XL,8.1 w 3:73's. approx 13,500 miles.

Recently I was backing my 7500lb+ camper back into my side yard,I had my front wheels against the pavement and ramping up onto the curb,as I gave it more and more gas, I thought I was going to start to spin, thats when I let off the gas and heard a loud popp or clunk like sound coming from the transmission area.I got out and did a visual and nothing obvious.I continued to park it and later crawled under to give a good look over and found nothing.Could this have been the Torque Management governing the tranny? Will take it to GM and the local tranny shop for a detailed look. Any and all idaes would be so much appreciated, due to no more towing till this is found. I have driven it at least 1 hundred miles since this and no problems.

Again plz help and all ideas/suggestions will be soo much appreciated.

rgds,

Perry

I wouldn't worry about it unless you actually experience problems with it. The 4l80E is pretty tough.

Just wondering when I tow again that it will be a mistake and when backing up or under a big torque load something is going to show itself.......

I just thought that sometimes a locking differential made a thunk sound when it engaged.

does it still drive fine? if so whats to worry about? i had that happen to me if i parked up to a parking block (or equivilent) and just put it into park and when i came back to the truck and moved the truck it would clunk due to having no slack in the driveline

mine did the same thing - 2004 xl, 8.1, 3.73, 15,000mi, 3000#trailer

i had been towing, got off exit ramp, came to a stop, started going again then, clunk!

i got under it just like you, nothing. it did this 2 or 3 times on a 3500mi trip.

i found some tsb's on pop/clunk sounds, but none of them applied. dealer found nothing.

1500mi later still no problems. i wouldn't worry.
