Leaf Springs

Is it just me or had anyone ever noticed leaf springs always seem to be slightly twisted over to one side a couple leafs down or so on both sides, just a touch. I've noticed this on every pickup I've ever owned and just assumed it was some normal thing for torsion or something of that nature? Is this a correct assumption that they are always like that?

I've noticed this on every pickup I've ever owned and just assumed it was some normal thing for torsion or something of that nature? Is this a correct assumption that they are always like that?

 

I've seen a few where the leafs were unevenly stacked on top of each other. But other than the natural curve, they've always looks fairly straight to me. I even replaced a set on my old tahoe, never noticed them being twisted.
