Tailgate Handle Snapped....

Last night when packing up from a fishing trip with my son & the fellars, I went to open the tailgate, and the friggin' handle snapped right off into my hand!!! The guys that were with us thought it was pretty funny, but I wasn't laughing.

 

Anyone know the part # for an '06 2500HD, and where I can get it cheap...& not through the STEALER? I just need the handle part.

FREE! arent you still under warranty? if not you could try junk yards or ebay. i would go to the dealer for warranty on it..........

Ebay. It's the only dealer alternative I found. I'm in auto repair and coudn't find one local. They are affordable enough that you might as well order the trim plate also, mine snapped when I tried to put it over the new handle so I still got a problem.

 

Make sure your catches are adjusted so that left and right latches pull about even, with those crappy plastic handles if the tension is much different they will eventually snap. Your first clue will be a hard to open handle.

Just picked one up at the STEALER about an hour ago. Yes, the rig is still under warranty, BUT......I have an after market tailgate lock from BULLY installed. I probably could have gotten it replaced under warranty, but didn't want to deal with the hassle of having to explain exactly why it broke.

 

Upon further inspection last night, I noticed that the lock was preventing easy opening. Well, with the use of a file and a few minutes of elbow grease it's now as smooth as butter.

 

d**n it! That's $45 less beer money for the next fishing trip. Oh well.
