Leveling Kit, 285s And Towing

Recommended Posts

Some members of this forum have indicated that they've used a leveling kit with bigger tires to make the truck look nicer. Any experience in towing with a leveling kit? As stock, my rear end is basically higher up than my front end, when solo, but when I hook up my trailer it all levels out. While I am interested in the idea of a leveling kit, I am worried that my rear end will be further down during a tow unless I super crank the torsion bars of the tow assembly.

Anyone out there with experience with leveling, 285s and towing?

I put a truxxx leveling kit on my truck (2002 gmc 2500hd 4x4 w/ 8.1)...It was a 3/1 kit...meaning...it brought the nose up 3 inches and the back...had a 1 inch block under the leaf spring...I put 315/70/17's under it... had to trim the plastic inner fenders...on the front...cannot even tell from stock..... I tow my 6000lb boat and trailer regularly... it drops the back down about an inch and a half.... if you wanted to keep the levelness of the truck...you could install bags under the back...unless you have the autoride suspension.... hope this helps

I installed a 2.5" leveling kit and run 285/75/16 tires on 16x8 wheels. Also installed Bilstien 5100 series shocks all around.I tow a 32ft 5th wheel toy hauler with no problem to handling or towing. :chevrolet:
