Leveling Kit For A 05 Crew Cab Z71

Recommended Posts

I just purchased a 2005 Chevrolet Crew Cab 1500 Z71. I am wanting to put some 285 BFG's on it. I didn't know if I need to raise the front any or if they will fit stock?

I also really wanted to level the front end with the rear. I don't like the lower front ends on them. I had a 2003 before this one and I used Ford keys to raise it. I notice the ride went to crap after doing this. Is there a better way or better kit out there that won't ruin the ride?

Thanks for the help.

I would suggest a leveling kit....cranking on stock keys can damage things more than help.

NOT! :chevrolet:

Just turn up the bars to raise the front end about 1-1.5". Then the 285's will fit fine. The leveling kits do the same thing, but are for people who want to raise the front of the truck 2" plus. Damage is only done when idiots bottom out the adjustment bolts for the tosion bars.

Jack front of truck up to take load off of suspension

Turn up adjuster bolts on torsion bars, 3-6 turns

lower truck and measure from fender to ground. Adjust as needed.

The adjuster bolts are under the truck, below the seats on a crossmember. You will see the torsion bars ( 5 foot long bars ) running into the cross member. Then you will see a bolt pointing down to the ground. That's the one you TIGHTEN on each side.

Enjoy, and have a good day! :banghead:
